You ordered the bloods. The results are back. Now what?

When you’re looking at a child’s blood pathology, it’s easy to get caught up in individual markers, reference ranges and what’s technically “normal”.

But what does that result actually mean for the child sitting in front of you?

Is their ferritin really optimal?

What does that zinc-to-copper relationship tell you?

Should you be paying more attention to their white blood cells?

And when several markers are sitting at the edge of the reference range, is there a bigger picture you’re missing?

This practical online masterclass with Kelly Allan is designed to help you feel more confident interpreting common paediatric blood pathology — from getting the fundamentals right to recognising the more subtle patterns that can easily be overlooked.

Move Beyond “It’s in Range”

A pathology report gives you reference ranges.

It doesn’t necessarily teach you how to put those results together clinically.

In children, interpretation also comes with another layer: age, growth and development matter.

During this masterclass, Kelly will walk through the blood markers she commonly assesses in clinical practice and explain what she looks for, how she puts results together and when a result deserves a closer look.

Imagine Opening Your Next Set of Bloods and Knowing Where to Look First

Instead of jumping between reference books, Google searches and old course notes, you’ll have a clearer framework for working through common paediatric pathology.

You’ll better understand:

  • What the key markers are actually telling you
  • Which results need to be considered together rather than in isolation
  • The difference between simply being “within range” and considering the clinical picture
  • Where nutrient markers may provide useful clues
  • What patterns warrant further investigation or referral
  • How to interpret results alongside the child’s presentation, diet and clinical history

What Kelly will cover:

Iron & Ferritin
Go beyond simply checking whether iron or ferritin has been flagged low and understand the broader iron picture.

Zinc, Copper & Their Relationship
Understand why these two minerals need to be considered together and what their relationship may tell you clinically.

Vitamin B12 & Folate
Learn how to interpret these nutrients alongside other pathology rather than viewing a single result in isolation.

Homocysteine
Understand where homocysteine fits into the picture and how it relates to folate, B12 and methylation.

Vitamin D
Review what you’re looking for when assessing vitamin D status in children and how to interpret the result in context.

Thyroid Markers
Get clearer on the common thyroid markers and when the numbers may warrant a closer look.

Red Blood Cells
Understand the key RBC indices and the patterns that can help build a more complete picture of nutrient and haematological status.

White Blood Cells
Learn what the different white blood cell markers can tell you and why looking beyond the total WBC count matters.

This isn’t about memorising more numbers.

It’s about learning how to think through the pathology.

Kelly will take you through the fundamentals while also highlighting the nuances that practitioners can sometimes get caught up on.

You’ll come away with a more systematic approach that you can take straight back into clinic.

Your Bonus:
Paediatric Blood Pathology Cheat Sheet

You don’t need to remember everything from the session.

You’ll also receive a practical Kids Blood Pathology Cheat Sheet to keep as a quick reference when reviewing pathology in clinic.

Use it to help you remember:

  • Key blood markers to review
  • Important relationships between markers
  • Common nutrient considerations
  • Patterns worth investigating further
  • Clinical interpretation prompts

Why Learn This With Kelly Allan?

Kelly brings the pathology back to the child in front of you.

Rather than simply working through laboratory ranges, this session is designed around real-world clinical interpretation — helping practitioners understand how different markers fit together and what information may actually be useful when making clinical decisions.

No unnecessary complexity.

No getting lost in obscure markers before you’ve mastered the important ones.

Get the basics right first — then know how to recognise the tricky ones.

This Masterclass Is For You If…

You’re a nutritionist, naturopath or other health practitioner working with children and:

  • You order or regularly review blood pathology
  • You sometimes question whether a result is truly optimal despite being “in range”
  • You want to feel more confident interpreting paediatric bloods
  • You want a clearer understanding of iron, B12, folate, vitamin D, zinc and copper
  • You’d like to better understand WBC, RBC and thyroid markers
  • You want practical education you can immediately apply in clinic

“Couldn’t I Just Look All of This Up Myself?”

Absolutely.

But that’s often the problem.

One marker leads to another article, another reference range, another interpretation and another opinion.

This masterclass brings the key information together into one clinically focused framework, taught by a practitioner who interprets pathology in the context of real paediatric cases.

Instead of simply collecting more information, you’ll learn how to use it.

FAQs

Will this be recorded if I can't attend live?

Yes, you will receive the recording of this masterclass.

Is this suitable if I'm relatively new to paediatrics?

Yes. Kelly will cover the foundations as well as the more nuanced areas practitioners can get caught up on. It’s designed to strengthen your fundamentals rather than assume you already specialise in paediatrics.

I'm already experienced with blood pathology. Will I still get something from it?

Yes. While the session gets the basics right, Kelly will also explore relationships between markers and interpretation considerations that are particularly relevant when working with children.

Will this cover functional or optimal ranges?

The focus is on interpreting pathology clinically and understanding the relationships between markers rather than simply memorising another set of ranges.

Do I receive anything to use after the masterclass?

Yes. You’ll receive the Kids Blood Pathology Cheat Sheet as a practical reference to use when reviewing future pathology.

Is this practical or mostly theory?

Practical. The aim is for you to finish the session with information and an interpretation framework you can apply directly in clinical practice.

Can I receive CPE points?

Yes, you will receive one CPE point per hour of learning. This presentation will be one hour including questions. A CPE certificate will be provided for all attendees (including those who can only access the recording).

I'm not a naturopath or nutritionist, can I still attend?

Yes, chiropractors, osteopaths and acupuncturists would all find this helpful.
